WHISTLES

Whistles are used to call in the Spirits in rituals and ceremonies, for marking the beginnings and endings of ceremonies and rituals, and simply to let the Spirits know that you are there and what you are doing. Again, the Whistle is an artifact that is commonly found in stone age graves from all around the world- in Europe, thousands of bone whistles have been found from all eras, and from all areas. Each one has its own unique individual sound, and from archaeological research so far in Europe, it seems that at some historical periods, virtually every individual had a whistle. 

Many native American peoples also use these. The plains tribes of America; such as the Lakota (Sioux), Cheyenne, Arapaho and Crow all use bone whistles to call the Spirits in the Sun Dance, and when Vision Questing.

Whistles are crafted from bone, and have a clear and distinctive sound. I engrave Whistles with ancient geometric designs, spirals and similar patterns. Each Whistle has fluffy feathers at the tip, a cord so that you can hang it around your neck, and thong and bead drops.
