A Witches Web is a magickal device specifically and ritually woven to protect the owner from negative forces, psychic attack and other similar needs.

DREAM-CATCHERS

These are well known now as they are a very popular item in New Age shops, at Psychic fairs and similar places. However, the underlying principles of Dream Catchers have become rather muddled in recent years- it’s a kind of ‘Chinese Whispers’ at work in the New Age community- as the message about them has passed from person to person, their original meaning and purpose has become increasingly muddled, and recently I have heard all sorts of ideas as to what they are for. 

Different American Indian Tribes use different designs of these, which vary from Spiders web designs, to the intricately woven forms now usually seen. However, the intents behind them are the same all over America- Dream Catchers catch your desire dreams- what you envision for yourself and others, and not the dreams you have while you are asleep. Or else they act as protective devices, catching negative energies, thoughts and ill-wishes, and protecting you from harm. They can be used for either purpose- have one for protection, and another for making your dreams- your needs and wants; come to manifestation in the world. They are therefore a form of Talisman.

The ‘Catchers I make are of the same basic design that you will see anywhere, except that I weave them of coloured silk, and add small fetish items- stones, shell, etc to enhance them. They are approximately 5-5 ½ inches in diameter.

When you receive your ‘Catcher, hang it up in your home- if possible, hang it as near as you can to the fireplace/hearth- the ancient centre of the home- if you are thoroughly modern and don’t have a hearth, then hang it where you feel the centre of your home is.
